The idea
This small courtyard garden is organised around a single strong idea: a square reflecting pool, edged in weathered reclaimed brick. It is a garden that balances structure and softness: formal lines underneath, informal planting on top. A pair of Cistus shrubs frame a white-painted iron bench, a quiet spot to sit beside the water.
The flora
Water lilies feature centrally in the pond with Cypyruss rising from the water, breaking the geometry with something loose.
The detail
Year-round structure is provided by a series of topiary domes scattered across the lawn, drawing the eye toward a secluded circular seating area tucked beneath a mature tree. For privacy and transition, a crisp Yew hedge acts as a living screen, serving as a formal gateway that leads back to the main terrace.
