A Dorset walled garden by the sea, made for family, with a bespoke potting shed

The idea

Set within a stunning walled plot on the Dorset coast, this ongoing project balances coastal resilience with traditional charm. The areas nearest the home are dedicated to utility and beauty, featuring a productive kitchen and cutting garden defined by reclaimed brickwork and a bespoke potting shed.

The flora

The wider grounds will be transformed into an oval lawn, wildflower meadow, new woodland and considered tree planting to encourage wildlife and long-term maturity.

The detail

A sand and gravel garden, framed by soft, cloudy hedging and carefully placed topiary will blend with the planned meadow.

A detailed landscape design plan showing various garden areas, trees, pathways, seating areas, and structures including a greenhouse with brick and oak, children’s play area under a tree, and planting zones labeled with plant species and dimensions.
A garden bed with various green plants, purple flowers, and dried brown plants, bordered by a brick pathway on the right side, with sunlight casting shadows.
A backyard garden with a small wooden greenhouse that has red framing and glass panels. A girl in pajamas is reaching through an open door into the greenhouse, and there are blooming purple and white flowers in the garden beds around it.

“The gardens are absolutely stunning.”
