The idea

This project involved a comprehensive redesign of the entire site, using a consistent palette of brick and reclaimed stone to unify the front, back, and kitchen gardens. The centre-piece of the transformation is a structured kitchen garden, enclosed by a six-foot Yew hedge that gradually tapers toward an elegant ornamental cherry tree at the entrance.

The flora

In the back garden, expansive sweeping beds extend into the lawn, creating a transition into the perimeter wildflower meadow. The planting scheme features a textured mix of Cirsium, Geranium, Allium, and Pinus mugo, while the main brick terrace is anchored by a specimen Amelanchier lamarckii, providing seasonal interest and delicate structure.

The detail

The garden's standout feature is an intricate brick rill. Water circulates between an elevated Corten steel trough and a circular pond, creating movement and sound throughout the space. To soften the industrial edge of the steel, the trough is enveloped in lush planting, with fragrant lavender encircling the lower pool.
