Paradise Garden
Inspired by Middle Eastern paradise garden traditions
The idea
To create a sanctuary at the back of a farmhouse, we divided a rectangular space into four distinct quadrants for planting - a modern take on the classic chahar bagh layout - anchored by a Pots 'N Pithoi water feature set against Bejmat Dark Green glazed Otto tiles.
The flora
Lush, structured planting in a palette of orange, brown and gold, with fruit-bearing trees giving height and permanence - Phlomis russeliana, Watsonia, Geums, Tetrapanax, Albizia julibrissin, Thunbergia, Fritillaria.
The detail
The oak enclosure fencing was carefully chosen from Quercus Fencing. The client's father - a potter - gifted several of the beautiful outdoor pots seen throughout the garden, adding a personal, handmade statement to the space. The door and window frames were painted in Farrow and Ball green.
“Feels truly magical out there.”
