The idea

Reimagining this city centre courtyard required a reconfiguration to ensure privacy from overlooking balconies. To give the new layout a sense of permanence, we repurposed original walling stone and cobbles discovered on-site, creating a seamless, established aesthetic.

The flora

The planting scheme is designed for year-round architectural impact. Structural Tree Ferns, Euphorbia, and Libertia provide a strong framework, softened by the woodland elegance of Polygonatum biflorum, Astrantia ‘Rubra’, and Dystaenia takesimana.

The detail

To provide a natural ceiling and screening, a canopy of Sophora ‘Sun King’, Amelanchier lamarckii, and Acer ginnala offer a sense of enclosure.
